Canada Trip Itinerary Highlights

August 1 Arrival in Montreal.  If you need assistance in arranging your transportation to Montreal, we will be glad to help you.  Since tour members will arrive at different times, it is not practical to arrange a group transfer from the Montreal airport or bus station.  Taxi services are available at nominal cost.  The tour begins at the hotel.  Meet your tour manager and fellow tour members at a 4:00 P.M. orientation followed by a city tour of Montreal.  This evening there will be a group dinner (optional).
August 2 Today we depart Montreal and wind along coastal roads overlooking picturesque valleys, agricultural lands and the St. Lawrence River.  We conclude our day in Rimouski, gateway to the Gaspé Peninsula, the most scenic region of Quebec Provence.
August 3 Today begins with a visit to Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse and Pilot Station.  The lighthouse, Canada's second highest, offers a magnificent view of the sea and coastline.  The pilot station was used by pilots on the St. Lawrence River until recently.  We then proceed to Les Jardins de Métis (Métis Gardens).  This historic garden, with more than 2,000 plants, trees and shrubs, is one of Quebec's leading tourist attractions.  At the heart of the garden is the historic Reford Villa, a summer residence built in 1887 by Lord Mount Stephen, founding president of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
August 4 This morning we have a cruise around Rocher Percé (Percé Rock) and the Bonaventure Island where an exceptional colony of birds called "Fous de Bassan" live.  Following a tour of the southern coast of Gaspé, we visit the Parc de Miguasha, a popular provincial park.  This will be followed by a tour of the Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site, displaying archaeological treasures salvaged from the French frigate Le Machault which sank during a confrontation with the British fleet in 1760. Our final stop today will be at Matamajaw Historic Site, where salmon can be seen in their natural habitat.
August 5 Today we depart the Gaspé Peninsula.  This afternoon we have a city tour of Quebec City.
