Frequently Asked Questions

| HOME | OUR LEADER |

If you have a question that is not answered on this page, you can e-mail us at  jiv@tourgroups.com

How long has JIV been in operation?

Since 1990. This is our tenth year.

What trips will be offered over the next 12 months?

We will be operating trips during the summer of  2000. If you have any suggestions for future trips, please e-mail us.

Where have you traveled to on previous trips?

Where do the trip participants come from?

Primarily from North America, but participation from other countries has grown in recent years,  in large part due to this web site.

What is the typical number of participants on your trips?

It ranges from 25-60. Most trips have between 30-40 participants.

Are you registered with any professional organizations?

Yes. We are registered with the Boston Better Business Bureau

Is it possible to speak with previous participants?

Yes. We will be happy to provide you with names and phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses upon request.

How would you describe the type of person that enjoys your trips?

Anyone who enjoys visiting new places, finds our itineraries appealing, and enjoys vacationing with their peers.

You advertise for ages 30-55. If my age is not in that range, can I still take the trip?

Yes. 30-55 is merely a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. In fact, in the past we have had travelers outside the advertised age range. Anyone interested in taking our trips is welcome.

Is your organization affiliated with the Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform movements?

No. On our trips we strive to create an itinerary which, on the one hand, does not cater to any particular level of observance but, on the other hand, does not exclude or offend anyone. To do this, we do not include lunches or dinners, and we have no activities scheduled on Friday nights or Saturdays.
In addition, the hotels we use on Friday nights and Saturdays are within walking distance of synagogues, whenever possible.

Are your customers religious or non-religious?

80% typically identify themselves as non-religious, 20% as religious.

Is Kosher Food available on the trip?

Lunch and dinner are not included in our package. Breakfasts are included with the hotel accommodations. People wishing to keep Kosher are advised to make their own arrangements in advance and/or we can provide you with a list of Kosher restaurants, wherever available.
